FVCC v Uppingham Town

Ah Uppingham, it's a beautiful ground - Leicestershire 2s have been known to play there, but sadly the wicket was a road, and they have a very good batting lineup..

The reality of the situation is that we HAD to win the toss and set a total, but even then we were still up against it - Slim to Zero some said, but our boys don't care about odds.

We lost the toss..

The league has introduced a rule where ANYTHING on the leg side is a wide - and that just ain't right - 30 odd runs right there gifted to the oppo through NO FAULT of our own...

Became very apparent that those boys were set on making us chase leather - an unbeaten partnership of 192 was the highlight.

Youngsters Max Potter and Dave Stribling both gave their all and did everything they could, and front line spinner Arjun Sudra got some overs ahead of "back-up" Scott Roberts..

They got 260 and plenty.

Our heroic and handsome captain batted with Sam Payne to nearly reach a 100 partnership before he recieved the ball of the century - swung out, jagged back 2ft and forced him to play a lofted shot straight to the fielder at cover - he was pretty sure it was a front foot no ball too.

Sam played very well for a hot half century on debut - we may allow him to play again.

Daz Webber-Hutchings upset everyone he batted with by trying to run them all out, but did get a decent 31 - ultimately we lost by 76
