The (Tino) Best Of.... with Brij Barot

Roving Reporter

Who (in your opinion) is the greatest cricketer of all time? And Why?

Two players for me stand out that I cannot split - Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar. They are the best 2 batsmen I have ever seen - a joy to watch!

What is your favourite moment in Cricket - this could be either watching it or playing it and could be at any level of the game, and why is it such a good moment for you?

Sachin Tendulkar lifting the World Cup on home soil in 2011. Players like him are deserving of a World Cup trophy. The only thing that would eclipse that is the day when I score a century.

Who would be part of your "Cricket Dream 11" - this could be any players from any nation, from any standard of the game. I just need 11 names and why!

1. Graeme Smith (c) - steady and calm left-hander Honourable mentions: Stephen Fleming, Langer, Ganguly, De Kock, Du Plessis, Tharanga, Cook, Chanderpaul

2. Virender Sehwag - would attack any bowling in a ruthless manner Honourable mentions: Hayden, Jayasuriya, Trescothick, Viv Richards, Dhawan, Dilshan, Gayle

3. Brian Lara

4. Sachin Tendulkar - the best 2 batsmen I have ever seen Honourable mentions: Kohli, De Silva, Ponting, Steve Waugh, Border, Gavaskar, Williamson, Pietersen

5. Don Bradman - consistency shown by his averages Honourable mentions: Dravid, Kirsten, Yuvraj, Inzamam, Tikolo, Jack Hobbs, WG Grace, Chappell

6. Jacques Kallis - the best all-rounder I have ever seen Honourable mentions: Flintoff, Pollock, Klusener, Angelo Matthews, Stokes, Botham, Kapil Dev

7. Kumar Sangakkara (wk) - the best wicketkeeper batsmen I have seen Honourable mentions: De Villiers, Gilchrist, Albie Morkel, MS Dhoni, McCullum

8. Wasim Akram

9. Dale Steyn - the best 2 fast bowlers I have ever seen Honourable mentions: Ntini, Harmisson, Hoggard, Gough, Hoggard, Vaas, Morne Morkel, McGrath, Lee, Malinga, Zaheer Khan, Akhtar, Anderson

10. Shane Warne

11. Muttiah Muralitharan - the best 2 spinners I have ever seen Honourable mentions: Kumble, Giles, Harbhajan, Hogg, Vettori, Shakib (if any are missed out, apologies, I only had 15mins to think about it!)

Let's look closer to home.. Who in your opinion is the best bowler you've seen play for FVCC - doesn't have to be a current player

I am judging this based on who I have faced - the three that stand out would be Jimmy, Mark and Jason. They are the sort of bowlers you want to face as a batsmen. If I had to pick one, I would go with Jason. Honourable mentions: Scott, Frank, Max, Knighty, Leon, JBT and Chappo

Let's cover the batter's now. Who is the best batsman you've seen play for FVCC - again this doesn't have to be a current player.

The three that stand out are Jools, One Pad and Bobby. I would say Jools, because I have seen more of him. Honourable mentions: Walshy, Sid, Bobby, Michael, Yakesh, Kev, Chris Hill, Adam, Tim, Bobby, Arjun, Samit, Kav, Dunkley, Terry, Andy and Sam

Let's finish with a little bit of fun. Who from the international circuit (current or past) do you imagine you most closely resemble in terms of cricket style and why?

As a batsmen, I am the hybrid of Rahul Dravid and Steve Waugh
