Hollywood Visits Bowden

Beautiful Great Bowden. Lovely ground, lovely people and the visit of a Hollywood superstar. Confused ? You soon won't be.

Fleckney bowled first and Captain Scooter broke things open quickly taking the first 3 wickets. He may have got another one if the keeper had remembered to appeal, he may have had another if the keeper had taken the ball towards the bails on one stumping chance but let's have this recorded, the keeper was otherwise magnificent. He threw himself around in a manner that only a cape and comparisons with Clarke Kent should allow and one legside dive and take bordered on the ridiculous.

It wasn't all plain sailing. Flip Flop managed to retrieve a ball from a neighbouring garden and somehow headbutt a pole. That's a metal pole, not an altercation with an Eastern European resident. Everyone concerned , including Flip Flop seemed nonplussed as to how he did it.

Moment of the innings was Seth Styles spinning a beauty past the outside edge of noted home blaster Sam Gomez to take his off stump. This was followed by the skipper bagging his personal 'Michelle' (Michelle 5 for/ Pfeiffer) despite his family claiming he can't catch. There you go, there's your Hollywood superstar. Click bait? You decide.

Fleckney would chase 182 to win after some late biffage from former Fleckney guest Upal Soysa but it wouldn't be an easy chase. The wicket was slow and bounce low. How low? Let's ask Mandeep.

The visiting master blaster had scored a quickfire 24 off 18 balls before one from Seb Fernades Smith shot through to pin our man in front. Shot through as in as yet undiscovered single celled microbacteria on the wicket dirt had a haircut. The appeal was apologetic, the decision was a formality but there was nothing that Psycho could have done.

After Samit was bowled by a sharp spinning delivery from Freddie Wilson and Flip Flop holed out it was a mindful and commendable partnership between Seth (58*) and Yakesh (38*) that took Fleckney to a 7 wicket win with an over to spare in tricky batting conditions. Great for the team but pad rash inducing for those waiting for a swipe.

We take a moment to congratulate Leicestershire on their victory this afternoon. Rumours of a Fleckney invasion of Trent Bridge on September 20th abound. Maybe , just maybe , a Roving Reporter will be there.
