End of Season fun at Fleckney

On a unusually warm mid September afternoon a mixture of 1sts 2nds and guests took to the field to play Newbold Verdon 3rds.

Kev Kisby(skipper) won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision he was soon wishing he hadn’t made after first Jay Kurji fell for a duck and then, Chris "One Pad" Jeffs was on the way back aswell. Sitting and wondering, the watching skipper was due in a 4 but after being not very many for 2 he decided to send Yakesh Sachdev in. The decision seemed to work with a mini rebuild on the way as Yakesh got a nice 21.

By the end of the innings Fleckney managed to creep upto 143 all out in there last over thanks to Jimmy Loomes 38.

After a brief tea interval we went out to field and some brilliant bowling from Max Potter (2-27) and Nilesh Dave (2-29) and fielding from the rest of the team had Newbold 5 down early on.

Then to the last over Newbold needing 10 of 6 balls, Potter then got despatched twice into the AstroTurf and the game was gone.

A very close result by two well matched teams - all in all an enjoyable afternoon.
