Conquering The Glens'

This week's guest roving reporter won't be waxing lyrical like our regular reporter, I'm more of a numbers man (don't forget your match fees).

We still had a keeper with a similar name who took 30 odd overs to give us that familiarity with our regular reporter & keeper.

Normally a trip past the river Sence to our regular oppo of Great Glen feels often like trying to concequer the Glen's north of the border.

Our captain thought we needed a bit of sunshine and warmth to get us going so we bowled. Mole conceding which end he wanted to bowl was obviously a ploy to ensure being the reasonable bowler he was led to 3 early wickets & pressure. The youngsters sent to the other end had no joy, Alfie French bowling really tight & unlucky to get wicket or 2.

Their opener pressed on to 50 before retiring. More wickets tumbled, the captain confusing Uncle's day with Father's day, also get 3, before a further 50 from Glen's captain left a chase of 185.

Mandeep came out & anyone who has batted with or seen Mandeep Bat, phrases like get yourself in, bat the overs, their's no rush is like asking England to reverse bazball start this week. A retirement of 51 which only seemed like 10 mins into our batting got us in a good position .

Wickets did start to fall however a steady partnership between Mole & your guest reporter helped us get within a win. But it's Great Glen so we like final over drama.

Mandeep breathed a sigh of relief that he scored a few singles but it didn't cost us as Mole got a couple of boundaries to finish off in the final over. Great team performance & oppo as usual played their part in a good natured game. Normal report duties & possibly keeping duties returns next week.
