And then the rain came

On a cold overcast Saturday afternoon in September we had our last league game at home. The skipper won the toss and elected to field first on a damp wicket hoping for quick wickets. They didn’t come and after 8 overs Langtons had about 50 runs on the board for the loss of only 1 wicket.

The skipper had seen enough and changed both bowlers and the next 12 overs or so where a lot better only costing about 30 runs after some tight bowling from Chris Knight 8 overs 2-16.

But the story of our afternoon though was dropped catches with close to double figures hitting the turf help the away side get a big score of 194 in constant drizzle. After the tea break the skipper sent his disgruntled batsman out in fairly heavy drizzle in hope the rain would disappear and after 10 overs the skipper saw sense and called the game of with Fleckney on 8/1.
