No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. The scene starts in a grey and cold Kibworth, a Sheath and a Roberts in a car, for years this has been Scott representing team Roberts but for this day it was Anna.

It was 41 miles to Nuneaton, it was dark and we were wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

The Fleckney 6 (plus 1) fielded first, lacking any presence of Hennell - something about toilets at Lords - I don't know - but she was missed.

Talking of missed, a couple of straight deliveries in the opening over and Fleckney were behind the eight ball, or should it be the six (plus 1) ball?

Jodie and Linda led a recovery, Katharine and Katie continued it, Angelique (on loan from Ashby Broom Hasting Leys) bludgeoned a six, Rachel moved the ball around well and Lucy batted well with the returning Jodie for 18.

251 probably felt a little too light.

Katie opened the bowling and continued her fine form from the Market Harborough match and was difficult to get away, Lucy "I hate bowling" Bateman picked up her Fleckney best with 3-18 and Linda and Rachel both picked up wickets too.

Nuneaton finished 20 ahead.

With a limited time to recover it was back out for the Fleckney 6 (plus 2) against Ashby Hastings Super 8s...

Their was only 1 wicket to fall, Jodie caught the ball Katie bowled and Ashby Hastings finished on 335.

Lucy then agreed to stop playing her version of the Hennell hook, the Bateman biff maybe?? - moments after the bails hit the ground again from the shot. But that was the only wicket we lost, and Lucy did hit 19, so 37 runs from a days cricket shows that our captain certainly can do it - in fact during the course of the day she became the leading run scorer in FVCCs history... she's also the leading the most times someone has been out as well....

The challenge for the group was to get 20 from each partnership, which we did and we ended on 284.

A tough day and one that in previous years could have been overwhelming but this group are strong and they know that they can and we will again.
